5th Place: Mazda5
|
The Mazda5 is a
fun-to-drive sub-minivan with three rows of seats, but with two buckets in
each the front and second row r ather
than a three-passenger second-row bench, only four passengers can ride in
any form of comfort. And while both rows of rear seats fold easily and the
cargo area is well-shaped, actual total volume is relatively limited.
Neither acceleration nor fuel economy stand out in this group either.
The Mazda5 is a
six-passenger vehicle that, with its responsive handling (that does not
penalize the vehicle’s ride comfort) and relatively sharp steering, can be
fun to drive. But while it has cornered that little niche, there are better
inexpensive ways to carry six passengers.
