6th Place: Chevrolet Silverado Classic

The Silverado is in a similar position to the Nissan Titan as a base full-size pickup truck that comes under-equipped at a low price, except that it includes more rear-seat legroom and, because of a standard V6 engine rather than the Titan’s V8, gets an estimated three additional miles to the gallon.

The Silverado Classic is last year’s Chevrolet Silverado sold this year at a discount alongside a new version. And though it dates to 1999, it holds its own in interior packaging and ease of use against comparable pickups. But fits six passengers in acceptable comfort while stopped (in more comfort than in the Titan), it is very obviously a truck in motion, and very obviously a cheap truck under attempted acceleration or upon contact with the ill-fitting interior materials.

The Silverado and Titan are the only two alternatives to a minivan in this price range for usable six-passenger comfort. If that describes what you are looking for, cross-shop those two.
